He was B. Bumble and the Stingers, the Hollywood Argylls, worked with the Raiders before Paul Revers and saw Leon Rusell being Paul for a while when Mark Lindsey vanished. His were the original versions of "Poppa Oom Mow Mow" and "Popsicles and Icicles." He was the first guy to produce Family and gave them their name.He did the first recording with Soft Machine and the band that eventually became Slade. More recently he produced a superb nasty rock album with Flash Cadillac for CBS, was one of the idols who gave Guy Stevens the impetus and inspiration for Mott the Hoople. He'd staged more theatre rock evening than Alice Cooper has sequins before Alice even made LA. |
Kim Fowley was who gave Rodney Bingenheimer his title "Mayor of Sunset Strip." His house was the refuge of wasted musicians and budding guitar heroes in the mid-Sixties.Kim Fowley is part of my growing up, my development, my education. He's probably part of yours too, if you've been into rock music for more than six months.
